Germany U18s draw blank against France

The Germany U18 side drew 0-0 against France in what was their first international match of the year. It was the first of two clashes against the U17 European champions. On Easter Monday (13:30 CET), they come up against ‘Les Blues’ once again in the Salmtalstadion.

Head coach Christian Wück took charge of the 1998 year group for the first time at the Saar-Mosel-Stadion, in front of 1,096 spectators. His aim ahead of the match was clear: “We want to develop the U18 squad. We kept the squad relatively small because of the big tournaments in 2015, but now we are looking to give more players the chance to prove themselves. We want to see how much these players have developed, despite not getting any minutes last year.” He then added: “For that reason, we have a roughly 50:50 ratio of old to new players.”
