Germany to face Ireland, Serbia and Bosnia at the U17 EUROs

The draw for the group stages of the European Under-17 Championship in Croatia has been made. Germany’s U17s have been drawn in Group C with Ireland, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The tournament kicks off on 3rd May and the final takes place on 19th. 16 teams will be taking part at the U17 EUROS, with the top two sides from each group progressing to the quarterfinal.

Germany qualified for the tournament as group winners, beating Armenia (10-1), Finland (6-2) and Turkey (3-1). The 19 goals were scored by as many as nine different players, with Germany outscoring all other teams in the qualification. Head coach Wück and his assistance will now begin preparing for the tournament.

The U17 EUROs will take place in Zagreb and Opatija. Five stadia will be used in the Croatian capital, plus a further two in Opatija, a city on the Adriatic coast. The tournament will also serve as qualification for the U17 World Cup which takes place in India later this year (6th-28th October). Five places are up for grabs for European nations, meaning the four semi-finalists and the winner of a fifth-place play-off will qualify for the World Cup.
