Germany lose 1-2 against Norway on Wednesday

The German Woman National team lose the opener of the Algarve-Cup in Portugal against Norway 1-2 (1-1) on Wednesday. It was the first defeat for the German team since March 2006 (0-1 against China). In front of 300 spectators Midfielder Renate Lingor scored for Germany, which still wait for its first win in 2007.

Norway got the better start. After 15 minutes Ingvild Stensland scored for the Scandinavians with a precise shot from 16 meters (15.). German Goalkeeper Stephanie Ullrich was without chance. The German team appeared however not impressed and scored only little later the game-tying-goal. Renate Lingor of 1. FFC Frankfurt hit the norwegian goal with a free kick out of 17 metres (18.). Striker Melissa Wiik scored the second goal for Norway in Minute 69.

The next game for Germany will be on Friday against France (7 pm). The french team lose its first match against Denmark 0-4 (0-1).
