Germany face Nigeria in the semis

The DFB-Team will face Nigeria in the Rio 2016 semi-finals on Wednesday in Sao Paulo (21:00 CEST). The African side, who won Gold in 1996, recorded a 2-0 victory over Denmark in Salvador on Saturday night. John Obi Mikel and Aminua Umar scored for the Super Eagles.

"I thought that Nigeria would beat Denmark. They have a strong team and there is a lot of quality there. We’re looking forward to facing them in the last four," explained Horst Hrubesch.

Nigeria became the first African side to win an Olympic Gold in Football in 1996. They also reached the final in 2008, but lost 1-0 to Argentina. Samson Siasia’s side topped their group, which featured Japan (5-4), Sweden (1-0) and Colombia (0-2).
