Germany beats Austria 3-1

The German national team won an international friendly against Austria in Vienna 3-1 (1-1). Striker Kevin Kuranyi of VfB Stuttgart scored three times to give Jürgen Klinsmann a winning debut as national coach. Kuranyi struck first after only two minutes and added two more (61st, 73rd), after Martin Amerhauser had levelled the game in the 10th minute.

Robert Huth (Chelsea London) and Frank Fahrenhorst gave their debut in the german national team.
