Germany arrive in Düsseldorf

Back together again after 52 days. The players said goodbye to each other the morning after the European Championship semi-final in France as they went on their holidays. This morning Die Mannschaft are back together again. The players have been arriving at the team hotel in Düsseldorf this morning. The 22 squad players arrived determined to give their best for the national team.

For some players it’s like a routine, but for others, it’s the first time they have been with the senior team. TSG Hoffenheim player Niklas Süle is with the national team for the first time. At the team hotel in Düsseldorf, the centre-back was introduced to those in charge and greeted by the other players. Alongside him, the other Olympic silver medallists Julian Brandt and Max Meyer were able to speak about their experiences in Brazil and Rio.

Löw: “We’ll see a young team”

This trio received a pleasant surprise right after arriving at the hotel as Joachim Löw announced that they will all play in the friendly against Finland. “Their style of play and development pleases me a lot,” said the national head coach about the three youngsters. He confirmed that “they’ll all have the chance to play on Wednesday.”

A little bit of nostalgia then, but the focus is also turning sharply to the future of the national team. There is also an immediate attention towards preparation for the friendly against Finland. On Monday afternoon the team will train together for the first time. For Joachim Löw there is no doubt that the farewell game for Bastian Schweinsteiger will be of high quality, not least because the game gives the fans a glimpse of the future. “We will see a younger team and players who have a lot of promise,” said Löw. “It will be interesting to see.”
