German women book ticket for EC in Finland
Germany's Women's National Team has booked its ticket for the European Championships 2009 in Finland by winning 5-0 (1-0) in Belgium. With their sixth victory in as many matches in qualification group 4, the team of DFB coach Silvia Neid have secured first place.
Conny Pohlers (20., 59.) and Kerstin Garefrekes (52., 60.) each scored twice, with Linda Bresonik adding the fifth in the 79th minute in a match that had the German side ceaselessly on the attack.
Silvia Neid was satisfied with her team's performance, especially with the second half: "We didn't make life so hard for us then, we showed focus in front of the goal and attacked on the wings".
