Drizzling rain welcomed the World- and European Champions upon their arrival at the Olympic Games. The German football women’s team travelled 17 hours from Frankfurt, Germany, to their team hotel Marvelot in Shenyang.
The Olympic football tournament starts this upcoming Wednesday on August 6, three days prior to the Opening Ceremony, when Germany face Brazil in a rematch of the 2007 World Cup Final.
Following a nine-hour-flight from Frankfurt to Beijing, the team had to endure a five hour lay-over. In Shenyang, Silvia Neid’s team shares the hotel with their group opponents Brazil, Nigeria and North Korea.
