German sport mourns the loss of Stefan Henze

The head coach of Germany’s Olympic canoe slalom team died surrounded by his family as a result of the head injuries that he sustained in a car crash in Rio de Janeiro early on Friday morning.

DFB President Reinhard Grindel and Bundesliga President Dr. Reinhard Rauball released a joint statement on the death of Germany’s canoe slalom coach: “German sport is mourning the loss of an important member of the Olympic family. Our thoughts are with his family, relatives and friends.”
