Frontzeck steps down from position at Hannover

Michael Frontzeck has resigned from his post as Hannover 96 head coach, news which was made public by the Lower Saxony side on Monday morning. Hannover will spend the winter break in 17th place with just 14 points from 17 games – their worst return since returning to the top flight in 2002. Frontzeck (51) replaced his predecessor Tayfun Korkut at the back end of the previous season and helped the side maintain their Bundesliga status.

"I sensed that people within the club were starting to lose faith in me, so I decided that now was the right time to step down,“ explained Frontzeck in a statement earlier today. Rumours regarding his resignation were circling around on Sunday night but neither President Martin Kind or sporting director Martin Bader were available for comment.
