EURO 2013 Final: Niersbach heads DFB delegation

Plans are underway for this Sunday’s UEFA Women’s European Championship final, with Joachim Löw and Co. also waiting eagerly as Germany’s women seek to claim their eighth European Championship title. “We need courage, passion and to enjoy ourselves,” said captain Nadine Angerer ahead of the final against Norway in Solna on Sunday.

General Secretary Sandrock also attending

A seven-strong delegation led by DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach will be in the stadium to support the German women’s football team. “We can only congratulate Silvia Neid and her young team for their performances and for reaching the final – it’s fantastic,” said the DFB President, who was also present for the 1-0 win against Sweden in Gothenburg and the 1-0 quarter-final win over Italy. “Now I hope the team can take that final crucial step and get the win they deserve,” said Niersbach.

DFB General Secretary Helmut Sandrock, Vice-President Hannelore Ratzeburg and Chair of the Committee for Women’s and Girls’ Football, Margit Stoppa, will also be present in Solna, whilst Vice-Presidents Hermann Korfmacher, Dr. Hans-Dieter Drewitz and Dr. Rainer Koch, along with Treasurer Horst R. Schmidt will also travel to Sweden to watch the team. The Federal Government will be represented by Hans-Peter Friedrich, Minister of the Interior.
