Emre Can into League Cup final with Liverpool

Emre Can and Liverpool have booked their place in the final of the English League Cup. Jürgen Klopp’s men came out 6-5 winners after a penalty shootout against Premier League competitors Stoke City at Anfield. 1-0 to Stoke was the score after extra time on the night, leaving the teams deadlocked over the two legs with an aggregate score of 1-1.

The Potters, with twice-capped Germany international Philipp Wollscheid at centre back for the evening, managed to cancel out Liverpool’s 1-0 lead from the first leg courtesy of a goal from former Bundesliga star Marko Arnautovic in first-half stoppage time. Joe Allen was the man to score the deciding penalty in the resulting shootout, while Emre Can wasn’t able to beat Stoke’s Jack Butland.
