Eintracht sack Veh

Eintracht Frankfurt have parted company with head coach Armin Veh. The Eagles had been struggling for form in recent weeks and the decision to terminate Veh’s contract was made after yesterday’s 1-1 draw with FC Ingolstadt. They made the news public on Sunday morning. Eintracht haven’t won any of their last seven Bundesliga games and currently occupy the relegation play-off spot, a situation which prompted the board to make this decision.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make because Armin Veh has had our backing for a long period of time,” explained chairman Heribert Bruchhagen. “However, we feel that changing the head coach now will kick the team on as they fight to avoid the drop. Assistant boss Reiner Geyer will take charge on a temporary basis whilst they look to appoint Veh’s permanent successor.

Veh returned to the Frankfurt hotseat on 15th June 2015. His guided them from the second tier to the Europa League in his first tenure, which was between 2011 and 2014. That stint ended due to differing aims for the club’s future progress.
