Düsseldorf win western derby against Bochum

The game between FSV Frankfurt and 1. FC Union Berlin ended 1-1 (0-1). Later the evening two contenders for Bundesliga promotion met: In Fürth relegated Eintracht Frankfurt won 3-2 (0-2). Greuther Fürth was two up, but in the second half Alexander Meier scored twice and Karim Matmour secured victory for Eintracht.

Round one of 2nd Bundesliga ended on Monday with the 18th home victory of Fortuna Düsseldorf. They won 2-0 against western rivals VfL Bochum. Sascha Rösler scored a sensationel goal to bring Fortuna in leadership, Thomas Bröker scored the late second goal.

In the first half both teams had great chances to score the 1-0. However the crossbar saved for the goalkeepers on both sides. In the second part of the match it was a hard fight for each team.

After the first round of the new season promoted Eintracht Braunschweig is top of the table, followed by Düsseldorf and relegated FC St. Pauli and Eintracht Frankfurt. Bochum rank on place 17 of the table.

Only promoted Eintracht Braunschweig gave proof of his strength in the first match of the new season of the Second Bundesliga. Against 1860 München the team of coach Torsten Lieberknecht won 3-1 (3-1) on Sunday.

In Karlsruhe an exciting match ended in favor of the host. The KSC prevailed over cup-finalist MSV Duisburg 3-2 (3-2). Vasilios Pliatsikas of Duisburg saw the red card.

In the third match on Sunday SC Paderborn scored with the help of Nick Proschwitz, who scored the decisively goal in minute 81. Paderborn managed to achieve three points with the 2-1 (1-1) at the stadium of promoted Hansa Rostock.

Relegated FC St. Pauli returned to Second Bundesliga with a 2-0 (0-0) victory against FC Ingolstadt 04 under new coach Andre Schubert on Saturday. Elsewhere Erzgebirge Aue beat Alemannia Aachen 1-0 (0-0).

Energie Cottbus had opened the season 2011/12 on Friday with a win in the eastern derby against Dynamo Dresden. The team of coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz turned the match after being down 0-1 in the first half due to goals of Dennis Adlung and Dennis Sörensen into 2-1.
