Draxler nets on PSG debut

Die Mannschaft star Julian Draxler enjoyed a successful competitive debut for his new employers on Saturday night. The attacker played his part as Paris Saint-Germain waltzed into the fourth round of the French Cup.

They inflicted a comprehensive 7-0 defeat on SC Bastia. The World Cup winner was introduced from the bench after 58 minutes of the tie and capped off a sparkling maiden display with an 89th-minute strike.

Cool finish

Bastia, who are 14th in Ligue 1, were unable to cope with the side from the capital. The other goals were scored by Thiago Silva, Adrien Rabiot, Christopher Nkunku, Thiago Motta, Lucas, and Angel Di Maria.

The scoring was wrapped up the Germany international late on, calmly lifting the ball over Thomas Vincensini and into the back of the net. Kevin Trapp had a quiet end between the sticks at the other end.
