Draxler dazzles in PSG win

World Cup winner Julian Draxler helped PSG extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 on Sunday. The star-studded team from France’s capital went up against current league title holders AS Monaco and won 2-1. The difference between the leaders and their closest competitors, Monaco and Lyon, now lies at nine points.

Draxler was a livewire throughout the game and provided the assist for Edinson Cavani’s opener (19’). Later on, Danijel Subasic pulled off a strong save to deny the World Cup champion from scoring his third goal this season (42’). Neymar extended the Parisian’s lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute, before Joao Moutinho answered back for Monaco in the 81st.

Höwedes makes debut in Juventus win at home

Juventus found their form again in a 3-0 victory against FC Crotone, as Bendikt Höwedes made his debut for the Italian record champions.

One week after the 3-2 win over Sampdoria, Sami Khedira did not make the Juventus squad. Schalke Loanee Höwedes took his place after weeks on the sidelines due to injury and played until the 68th minute. Before this game, the 29-year-old had only worn the Juventus shirt in a friendly. The goalscorers for Juve were Mario Mandzukic (52’), Mattia de Sciglio (60’) and Medhi Benatia (71’).

The win moves Juventus into third place with 34 points, which is still four points behind leaders Napoli at the top of the Serie A, who themselves are coming off a 1-0 win over Udinese.

Barca play out draw against Valencia

FC Barcelona just avoided their first defeat of the season against Valencia in a battle between the two top teams in La Liga. The Catalan side earned a hard-fought draw, which maintains their four point lead at the top of the league.
