Draxler and Trapp win French League Cup with PSG

Germany internationals Julian Draxler and Kevin Trapp have claimed the French League Cup title with PSG. In what was a rematch between the two sides that battled it out in last year’s final, the French giants pulled through with a 3-0 win against Monaco in Bordeaux. It was their fifth League Cup win in succession.

Both Draxler and Trapp started the game for the Parisian side, with the latter putting in an error-free performance. The goals came courtesy of Uruguay international Edinson Cavani (7’, 85’ Pen.) and Argentina’s Angel di Maria (21’).

After being ousted from the Champions League in the last 16 at the hands of Real Madrid, PSG could still win four domestic titles. Paris already claimed the Supercup title last summer and have a 17 point lead over Monaco in the league. Unai Emery’s side will face league rivals SM Caen in the semifinals of the French Cup on 18th April.
