Dortmund sink Tottenham with second leg win

Borussia Dortmund have taken another step in the direction of Europa League glory, reaching the quarter-finals after winning their second-leg fixture against Tottenham. In front of more than 36,000 fans, Dortmund started on the front foot and were comfortably the better side throughout. It didn't take long for BVB to take the lead at White Hart Lane as Aubameyang's stunning curled effort from long range in the 24th minute was too much to deal with for Lloris. Dortmund's front three of Reus, Mkhitaryan and goalscorer Aubameyang were a constant danger and caused many problems for the Spurs defenders.

Tottenham came into the game a bit more in the second 45, keeping the ball better and trying to get forward without really creating much. In the 70th minute, if anybody had hoped the home team would pull off the spectacular, their dreams were crushed as Aubameyang struck again. He was played in by Mkhitaryan and Lloris was unable to keep the ball out, despite getting a touch to the powerful effort. Tottenham reacted quickly as Heung-Min Son took advantage of a poor back pass from Subotic, rounding the keeper and passing into an empty net for his side's only goal of the two-legged tie. The game finished 2-1 and Dortmund progress to the next round of the competition, having won 5-1 on aggregate.
