The European Championship 2020 will be played in a number of European countries and cities. DFB-President Wolfgang Niersbach welcomed today’s decision by UEFA's Executive Committee in Lausanne: "We had expected such a vote and regard this as very positive. Now, the National Associations Committee, of which I am a member, is tasked with further developing a workable concept for 2020. However, even at this early point in time, I'd like to announce that we are determined to submit a bid featuring one German city as a possible venue."
Following Thursday's meeting by UEFA's Executive Committee in Lausanne, UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino had said: "The Euro 2020 will be hosted throughout Europe in various major European cities." The Committee thus followed a proposal by Michel Platini.
