Egidius Braun´s social commitment will be
maintained and was given an independent
platform by way of a new foundation. Based in
Braun´s home city of Aachen, the foundation will
have a board of trustees including, amongst
others, national team manager Rudi Völler and Mr
Wolfgang Clement, the premier of the state of
Nordrhein-Westfalen. The foundation´s capital
stock will be DM 1 million.
Consequently, the DFB Sportförderverein (society
for the promotion of sport) that had been
entrusted with administering all social matters,
will be dissolved. In addition to donations, the
foundation will benefit from the profits generated
by benefit matches that the German national team plays every two years.
In his capacity of head of the German 1986 World Cup delegation in Mexico, Egidius
Braun had initiated the creation of the DFB´s Mexico Aid project which from now on
will be an integral part of the foundation.
