Cruciate ligament tear: Season over for Süle

Germany U21 international Niklas Süle of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out for the rest of the season. The centre back suffered the injury in his side’s 3-2 Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.

“We’re all devastated for Niklas. He is a great lad who has undergone an incredible development so far,” said director of football at TSG Alexander Rosen following the diagnosis. “We will support him in every way we can and help see him through his challenging phase in his career.”

The 19-year-old impressed in recent months with consistent performances and even earned a call-up from Germany U21s manager Horst Hrubesch. Unfortunately for the youngster, he is likely going to miss the 2015 European U21 Championship in the Czech Republic set for 17th-30th June.
