Can and ten-man Liverpool fight back to win against Crystal Palace

Germany international Emre Can and Liverpool were able to record a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace on matchday 29 in the Premier League, despite having had James Milner sent off shortly after the hour mark. The victory keeps Klopp’s men in the race for a European qualifying spot.

Four days prior their Europa League round of 32 first leg with league rivals Manchester United, Liverpool were able to scramble a stoppage time winner through Christian Benteke to claim all three points at Crystal Palace. Joe Ledley had given the hosts a lead shortly after the break, but former Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino levelled the score following a mistake by Palace keeper Alex McCarthy.

Lazio falling behind in the race for Europe

Defending Serie A champions Juventus recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory at Atalanta as they keep leading the way in the standings. World Champion Sami Khedira featured in the starting XI but was brought off after 68 minutes with his team 1-0 in the lead.

Fellow World Cup winner Miroslav Klose and Lazio on the other hand are losing sight of the European qualifying places following a 1-1 draw at Juve on matchday 28. Klose, making his second consecutive start, showed a determined performance until he was replaced in the 73rd minute.

Galatasaray disappoint during Podolski’s return to the starting line-up

World Champion Lukas Podolski returned to the starting line-up after his one-game suspension but Galatasaray were once again unable to show a convincing performance. They were held to a 3-3 draw by city rivals Basaksehir FK, with Selcuk Inan scoring a late equaliser for the defending champions. Podolski played the full 90 minutes.
