Boateng resumes running

World Cup winner Jerome Boateng returned to running action on Wednesday after a number of weeks off. The 27-year-old central defender completed a number of individual laps of the training ground.

Boateng sustained a ruptured muscle bundle in his right thigh against the EURO hosts during this summer’s tournament. It’s not yet clear when he will return to team training, however, he has been ruled out of the season opener against SV Werder Bremen (26th August).

Douglas Costa resumed running on Tuesday, but Renato Sanches and Arjen Robben remain absent. Xabi Alonso picked up a light knock recently but is likely to return to team training on Thursday. Holger Badstuber, who missed the majority of last season with injury problems, is still training individually. Franck Ribéry has recovered from adductor problems and is available to face Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup on Sunday.
