Bayern's Borowski returns to Bremen

German international midfielder Tim Borowski has rejoined former club Werder Bremen on a three-year deal, just a year after leaving them for Bayern Munich. Borowski, 29, had a difficult time at Bayern and decided to move back to more familiar climes as he attempts to ensure a place on the German World Cup squad having won 33 caps to date.

"I had a strange season at Bayern. But I'm delighted to return to Werder and am impatient to get going again here," said Borowski, who scored five times in 26 appearances for Bayern as they missed out on the title to surprise champions Wolfsburg. No fee for the transfer was given. "With Tim we welcome a key player who fits snugly into a pretty young squad," said Werder's sporting director and former star Klaus Allofs.

Bremen, who beat Wolfsburg on Monday in the German Super Cup, moved in for Borowski after losing Brazilian star Diego, who has just joined Juventus.
