Bayern shocked at Hannover, Dortmund close in

German league leaders Bayern München had their 13-match unbeaten run ended on Sunday when they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Hannover. Both sides finished with 10 players in a game where Norway striker Mohammed Abdellaoue and Christian Pander scored the Hannover goals which inflicted only the second defeat of the season on Bayern.

After defending champions Borussia Dortmund hammered Köln 5-0 on Saturday to move up to second, the defeat leaves Bayern only three points clear at the top of the table. With Borussia Moenchengladbach dropping to seventh from second in the table after their 1-0 defeat at Hoffenheim, Stuttgart are up to fifth after their 2-2 draw at Nuremberg.

On Friday, Newcomers FC Augsburg missed their first home victory of the season. Axel Bellinghausen with his first goal put the home side in front but Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro leveled the score.
