Bastian Schweinsteiger: "Augsburg are third for a reason"

Another dramatic weekend of Bundesliga action ended yesterday. After the games, DFB.de spoke to some of the Germany internationals involved in the fixtures.

FC Augsburg 0-4 Bayern München

Bastian Schweinsteiger: It wasn’t easy, but we played very well in the second half. There are good reasons why Augsburg are third. They’re very passionate, very aggressive and their first-half tactics were excellent. After we went 1-0 up, Augsburg tried to play a more attacking game. We made good use of the gaps that opened up and went on to score our goals.

Manuel Neuer: Being top at Christmas means we’ve achieved one of our goals.

Hertha BSC 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

Sven Bender: We didn’t do enough to win the game. We didn’t play cleverly enough at the decisive moments of the game. Instead of focussing on minor details we need to analyse the entire situation. We’ve been in a relegation fight for a few weeks. We regain confidence through our home performances but it’s lost again after away matches. It’s frustrating that we keep making the situation worse. It hurts. It’s a brutal situation, we are up against the ropes and need to get out of it as soon as possible.

Marcel Schmelzer: We really have to start picking up three points away from home again. We always do a first step, like against Gladbach or Hoffenheim, but then screw it up again. It’s a shame for the team and the fans. We really need to start getting results again.
