Badstuber loaned to Schalke

Germany national team player Holger Badstuber has moved on loan from Bayern München to domestic rivals Schalke 04. The move is subject to a medical, which the player should undergo shortly.

”Holger is a great player. He has struggled with injuries, but he’s now fit and wants to get more game time,” said Bayern sporting director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “Therefore, he asked us to allow him to go to Schalke, and we gladly let him.” He added, Bayern hope that “Holger will get a lot of minutes under his belt in the coming months and wish him only the best.”

The 27 year old, who has been plagued by injuries recently, will undergo a medical with the Royal Blues in the coming days. The defender had this to say about his move: “I’m thankful that Bayern granted me my wish. I’d like to play more at Schalke, which is what I need, I’m looking forward to my time in Gelsenkirchen.” S04 sporting director Christian Heidel emphasised, “Badstuber is one of the best ball-playing centre-backs that I know. He’s now fit and can train at full pace.”
