Atletico again for Bayern, BVB to face Real, group of death for Gladbach

There are three German-Spanish duels on the cards in the group stage of the Champions League this season, including a chance for Bundesliga champions Bayern München to get revenge on Atlético Madrid following their semi-final exit last year. Carlo Ancelotti’s side will also take on PSV Eindhoven and FC Rostov in Group D.

Borussia Dortmund will meet defending champions Real Madrid in Group F, as well as Sporting Lisbon and Legia Warsaw. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen will take on CSKA Moscow, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Monaco in Group E.

There will also be a reunion for Marc-André ter Stegen and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the group phase. The Bundesliga’s fourth-placed side from 2015/16 have been drawn in Group C alongside Spanish champions FC Barcelona, former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Scottish giants Celtic.

The group stage kicks off on 13th September and runs until 7th December. The Champions League final will take place in Cardiff on 3rd June 2017.
