Arsenal back in third courtesy of two Özil assists

Arsenal won their seventh home game in a row in the top tier of English football and remain on course for the Champions League. The Gunner defended third place in the table with a 2-0 win over Everton on matchday 27 of the Premier League season. Mesut Özil had a hand in both goals while World Cup winner Per Mertesacker wasn't in the starting XI for the first time since matchday 1.

World Cup winner Mesut Özil set up both goals from Olivier Giroud and former Dortmund man Tomas Rosicky, and has now had a hand in seven goals in his last five Premier League outings.

Klose comes off the bench to score

Lazio celebrated an important win in the battle for Champions League qualification courtesy of World Cup winner Miroslav Klose. The Lazio sub headed in to make it 2-0 against Sassuolo, just four minutes after his introduction, with the final score 3-0.

Lazio are now in fourth place after matchday 25, which would entitle them to a place in the Europa League next term. Third-placed SSC Napoli are still two points ahead of them.

Mustafi on course for Champions League too with Valencia

World Cup Winner Shkodran Mustafi remains on course for Champions League qualification with Spanish top-flight side Valencia. The German defender came out on top 2-0 with his team against Real Sociedad on matchday 25 of the Primera Division season.

Valencia secure fourth place with their fourth win in succession courtesy of a brace from Argentine Pablo Piatti. Third place and a direct qualifying Champions League spot are within their grasp.

Can wins against Manchester City with Liverpool

There was an equally important victory for Germany U21 international Emre Can and his Liverpool team: The Reds triumphed 2-1 over title-chasing Manchester City on matchday 27 of the Premier League campaign.

Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho struck for the hosts, with Can starting for them. Former Wolfsburg front man Edin Dzeko has equalised in the first half for the visitors. Liverpool jump to fifth place for the first time since matchday 8 following their 11th undefeated game on the spin.
