Arsenal and Mustafi move up into the Champions League places

English side Arsenal scraped to victory with an injury-time penalty in the Premier League. Without world champion Mesut Özil, who was out with illness, the Gunners beat this season’s surprise package Burnley 1-0 on Matchday 13, three days after their Europa League loss in Cologne (1-0). With the win, the FA Cup holders climb up to fourth place in the table.

Alexis Sanchez scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute. Germany international Shkodran Mustafi started for the Londoners, whilst world cup winner Per Mertesacker did not come off the bench.

Meanwhile, table-toppers Manchester City, with Germany international Leroy Sané in the starting XI, came from behind to beat newly-promoted Huddersfield Town and their German head coach David Wagner 2-1. Nicolas Otamendi put the ball into his own net to give the hosts the lead just before the break but Sergio Aguero converted a penalty to give City the equaliser (47’). Raheem Sterling scored the winner in the 84th minute. Sané was unlucky not to score in the 57th minute, with his shot hitting the woodwork.
