Almuth Schult to stay at Wolfsburg until 2019

Wolfsburg and Germany women’s team goalkeeper Almuth Schult has extended her contract at Wolfsburg until 2019. “The fact that we will have Almuth Schult as our long term number one is an important signal,” said head coach Ralf Kellermann. He continued, “As a leader she is important to the spine of the team.”

Schult gave her own thoughts on the extension, “I consciously decided on staying three more years. At Wolfsburg everyone supports women’s football and because of this I have a lot of faith in the club.”

The goalkeeper has played for Wolfsburg since 2013 and won the German league and the Champions League in her first year as well as the DFB-Cup in 2015. In the last year, she has wrestled the first-choice goalkeeping spot in the national side from Nadine Angerer. Currently, she is on international duty with Germany at the SheBelievesCup in the USA. On Thursday night (1:45 CET) Silvia Neid’s team will take on world champions and hosts the USA in the tournament decider.
