Algarve Cup: One goal missing for making the final

At Algarve Cup 2009 Germany lost 2-3 (0-3) against Sweden and now meet Denmark for third place match on Wednesday (11.30 am). In the last match of the preliminary round the reigning world champions needed a draw to go to the final, which will be played by Sweden and olympic champions USA.

Nilla Fischer (28.) and Lotta Schelin with two goals (36./38) scored for Sweden to a 3-0 halftime lead. Inka Grings (77.) and Kim Kulig (82.) made it 2-3. In the additional time Melanie Behringer (90.) hat a big opportunity to score the equalizer, but missed the goal.

On Wednesday, 4th of March, and Friday, 6th of March, Germany had beaten Finland (2-0) and China (3-0) in Albufeira to take the lead in group A.
