24 goals: Müller becomes Bayern's top scorer in the Champions League

World Champion Thomas Müller set a new Bayern München Champions League record in last night’s game against CSKA Moscow. The 25-year-old scored his 24th Champions League goal on Wednesday evening to become Bayern’s record scorer in the competition.

Müller’s penalty meant he surpassed Mario Gomez (23 goals) on the list. “I wasn’t aware of that. For me, scoring is part of my job,” said the striker.

Gomez remains the highest German scorer in Champions League history. Müller remains two goals behind the Fiorentina striker, who scored three times in the competition for VfB Stuttgart earlier in his career.

Namesake and Bayern legend Gerd Müller scored 24 goals in the European Cup, an earlier incarnation of the competition.
