Bayern München are the German Champions of 2009/10. On the last round the team of dutch coach Louis van Gaal secured their 22nd title by beating Hertha in Berlin 3-1 (1-0). The chances of pursuers Schalke 04 - who were held for a 0-0 by Mainz 05 - had been reduced to a minimum before the round anyway as they were trailing Bayern by three points and had a much worse goal difference.
VfL Bochum was the second team after Hertha Berlin that got relegated to 2nd Bundesliga. Bochum lost 0-3 (0-3) to Hannover 96. 1. FC Nürnberg, who won their last match against Köln 1-0 (0-0), will face 2nd league team FC Augsburg in two play-off-matches to decide the last of 18 places in German Bundesliga for next season.
Werder Bremen came in 3rd by drawing Hamburger SV 1-1 (0-0). They will now fight for a spot in the UEFA Champions League in qualification. Finally VfB Stuttgart secured the 6th spot and a place in the Europa League. Their last match against Hoffenheim ended 1-1 (1-1).
