17 players feature in opening training session

The Germany national team had 17 players on board for their opening training session today in Berlin. Manager Joachim Löw had to make do without Dortmund’s Matthias Ginter and Erik Durm, as well as Gladbach’s Max Kruse and Christoph Kramer. All four played in the Bundesliga on Sunday evening, and so completed a recovery session at the team hotel.

Germany face newcomers Gibraltar in a EURO 2016 qualifier in Nuremberg on Friday (20:45 CET), followed by an international friendly against defending European Champions Spain in Vigo on Tuesday (20:45 CET).
