Zieler: "Savoured every moment"

After the game come the microphones. Reports ask, players answer. DFB.de have gathered the reaction of the Germany internationals involved. This week it’s the turn of Ron-Robert Zieler, Sven Bender, Max Meyer, Christoph Kramer & Co.

Hannover 96 1-0 1899 Hoffenheim

Ron-Robert Zieler: I really savoured it today and am pleased that we got three points. It was really impressive how the fans supported us. You can’t take these things for granted - fans celebrating despite relegation being confirmed.

Kevin Volland: It didn’t feel good today, from the full-time whistle onwards. But we have managed it, after what has been a turbulent season. We have played some amazing games recently, and turned a lot of them around. For that reason we deserve to play Bundesliga next season. Julian calmed everyone down when he came in.

FC Köln 0-0 Werder Bremen

Leonardo Bittencourt: We couldn’t find a way through in the first half. The manager told us that we do much better. In the second half we played more aggressively, as we knew it would be a physical match. We improved.

Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

Sven Bender: We fell asleep in the opening 15 minutes, and Frankfurt took advantage. Eintracht played with passion and defended well. We didn’t play well enough to really threaten them. The one or two times we managed to find a way through we didn’t make use of. Had we made it 1-1, it would have been a different game. It’s a shame - we would have liked to get 83 points and set a new club record. This defeats hurts.

Marcel Schmelzer: We struggled to create chances. Frankfurt didn’t give Bayer 04 that much, but we didn’t really play well at all. The pitch also didn’t suit our possession game. We had 85% of the ball in the second half, but if the balls are only going two metres it’s very difficult to get in behind. We couldn’t find our forwards like we normally do. Therefore most of our chances came from set pieces. Unfortunately we had a goal disallowed as well.

Schalke 04 1-1 FC Augsburg

Max Meyer: We didn’t do enough for our attacking players and were too passive when they scored. It’s so disappointing to concede goals late on like that. We need to process the match and keep our heads held high. Our aim in Hoffenheim is clear, three points and hopefully direct qualification to the Europa League.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Christoph Kramer: It was a game with plenty of chances. Gladbach were very good at the beginning, and we actually ended up conceding in the two periods of the match where we had the greatest measure of control. A draw would have been fair considering the chances we had. Gladbach needed a bit of luck to get the win.

André Hahn: I didn’t win this game single-handedly. I am happy that the manager has put his faith in me, and that I am able to repay him in goals. The whole team did really well. We are very pleased with the position we find ourselves in, and that we were able to turn the game around.

FC Ingolstadt 1-2 FC Bayern

Thomas Müller: The team did really well. We had to compete with the best-ever second placed team in Bundesliga history in Dortmund. You saw once again today that our opponents gave absolutely everything, but in the end we were the stronger side. For that reason we are very happy. Four titles in a row, something that has never happened in Bundesliga history. There have been some exceptional teams in history, which makes this even more special.
