Youngsters Hendrich, Kemme and Petermann start against Sweden

Germany manager Silvia Neid has made several changes to her starting XI for the Algarve Cup third place playoff match against Sweden in the Estadio Municipal Da Bela Vista in Parchal. With six new players in the starting line up, from the last game against Brazil, they should be strong enough to get their own back on the Swedes for the 4-2 defeat in the opening group game.

In goal Almuth Schult (VfL Wolfsburg) stands in once again for first choice goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, and as such will make her 20th appearance for the twice time World Champions and eight time European Champions. The two centre backs in front are Annike Krahn (Paris St. Germain) and Babett Peter (VfL Wolfsburg), flanked by two new wing backs: Kathrine Hendrich from 1. FFC Frankfurt on the right and Tabea Kemme from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on the left to offer both an attacking threat and defensive solidity.

In midfield Silvia Neid has rotated some players: Lena Goeßling (VfL Wolfsburg) and Sara Däbritz (SC Freiburg) are the main two in central midfield, with Simone Laudehr (1. FFC Frankfurt) hoping to make an impact down the left, and Lira Alushi (Paris St. Germain) likewise on the right. In attacking midfield, Anja Mittag from Swedish champions FC Rosengard, returns to the line up, with Lena Petermann (SC Freiburg) leading the line up front in her second international appearance.

Germany starting XI: Schult - Hendrich, Krahn, Peter, Kemme - Goeßling, Däbritz - Alushi, Mittag, Laudehr - Petermann.
