World Rankings: USA jump into top spot

The World Champions are also the highest ranked team in the world! The USA, who were recently crowned World Cup winners, have usurped Germany at the top of the FIFA World Rankings, which are brought to you by Coca Cola. Carli Lloyd’s side, who beat the DFB Team in the semis, have 2189 points; Silvia Neid’s team have 2115.

The July edition of the men’s rankings also saw Germany lose their grip on top spot, even though new leaders Argentina only came second at the 2015 Copa América, just like they did at last year’s World Cup.

World Cup quarter finalists France remain third, marginally ahead of Japan. England have jumped into fifth thanks to their escapades in Canada, which saw them gain the bronze medal.

The next set of rankings will be released in September.
