World Cup warm-up against Three Lions at Wembley in November

The Germany national team will face England at Wembley Stadium on 10th November. The two associations agreed to the friendlies after both nations guaranteed qualification for the 2018 World Cup. “We will use autumn and spring to prepare for the World Cup, playing friendlies against the strongest teams in the world," said team coordinator Oliver Bierhoff. "In spring we will play Spain and Brazil, but first up we face Gareth Southgate and his team. I’m looking forward to this classic at a fantastic stadium and I hope that as many fans as possible will follow us to London."

In 35 meetings between the two sides, Die Mannschaft were victorious on 13 occasions, while the Three Lions have won 16. The most recent fixture ended 1-0 to Germany following a thumping Lukas Podolski goal, in what was his final appearance for the national team, in Dortmund earlier this year. We also celebrated a 1-0 victory on our last visit to London in November 2013 thanks to a Per Mertesacker goal.

36th edition of a true classic

The 36th clash could only be scheduled by the FA and DFB for the 10th November after both sides sealed qualification to the FIFA World Cup in Russia on Thursday evening. England beat Slovenia 1-0 to finish top of Group B, while Joachim Löw’s side claimed first place in Group C with a 3-1 win against Northern Ireland in Belfast. The reigning world champions welcome Azerbaijan to Kaiserslautern for the final qualification match on Sunday, 8th October (20:45 CEST).
