World Champions retain top spot in FIFA rankings

Germany kept their place at the top of the November FIFA world rankings on 1,602 points, ahead of record World Cup winners Brazil (1,483), and current European Champions Portugal (1,358). The next FIFA world ranking list will be published on the 21st December.

Earlier this month a couple of classic fixtures concluded the year’s international football for the World Champions. Joachim Löw’s team played out a 0-0 draw with England at Wembley, while in Cologne, Gladbach’s Lars Stindl scored a last-minute equaliser against a strong French side to rescue a 2-2 draw.

The first five places in the rankings remain unchanged from October, with Argentina and Belgium rounding out the top five, in fourth and fifth respectively. The biggest winners among the top ten were Switzerland, who after progressing from the World Cup play-offs with a 1-0 aggregate win over Northern Ireland, rose from eleventh to eighth in the rankings.
