World Champions remain top of FIFA rankings

Germany are top of April’s FIFA World Rankings. The World Champions lead the way once again with 1687 points ahead of World Cup runners-up Argentina (1490). Belgium move into third place (1457), the best position in their team’s history.

Meanwhile Brazil (fifth, up one place) and the Netherlands (sixth) have swapped places. Brazil beat European Championship hosts France (eleventh, down three places) 3-1, while the Netherlands had to make do with a draw against Turkey (52nd, up four places). Switzerland (ninth, up one place) and Spain (tenth, up three places) both made their way back into the top ten at the expense of France and Italy (13th, down three places).

No Germany fixture before publication of next World Rankings on 7th May

Results from 135 new international fixtures were taken into consideration when compiling the list, taking the total number of matches included in the calculations so far this year to 217. 25 matches were EURO 2016 qualifiers, 26 formed part of qualification for the 2018 World Cup (CONCACAF, AFC) and the remaining 84 were friendlies.

The next World Rankings will be published on the 7th May. There are no Germany fixtures scheduled for before then. The next time the DFB-team will play is on the 10th June in Cologne against Jürgen Klinsmann’s USA. Germany will continue their European Championship qualifying campaign against Gibraltar on the 13th June in Faro, Portugal.
