World Champion Schweinsteiger capable of playing for "3 or 4 more years"

Germany's captain Bastian Schweinsteiger thinks he is capable of playing at a high level for quite a while yet, despite his history of injuries. "I think that I could play for another three or four years," said the Bayern München player at the record champions' training camp in Doha. He feels good and thinks that he is capable of carrying on in a similar mould to how he played when his country won the World Cup last summer in Brazil.

The vice-captain of the World Cup winning-side first played for Bayern München this season in November 2014 following a lengthy injury to his patellar tendon. In the second half of the season, Schweinsteiger wants to play a vital part from the get-go. "I am happy that I have recovered well and was still able to play a few games," he said.

"We must get the points that we need in the European Qualifiers"

Schweinsteiger has not been thinking about a new contract. His current deal at Bayern München runs until the end of the 2015/2016 season. "I don't know if there have already been discussions," said the German player with 108 caps: "I am very relaxed and concentrating on the important things. That's all I am doing."

Much like last year, Schweinsteiger is hoping that in spring they "will have big games in the Champions League and will also be challenged in the league." Concerning the national team in their European Qualifiers, he wants to get "the points that we need."

Defender Jérôme Boateng, who is currently wearing strapping on his right knee due to patellar tendon discomforts (although they are "not bad"), added that there are lots of titles available "that we want to win."
