There will be some interesting challenges ahead for the DFB women’s U19s if they want to capture their fifth European title. It was revealed that Germany will face Spain, Austria and Switzerland at the draw in Bratislava on Tuesday.

The group matchdays are scheduled for the 19th, 22nd and 25th July. Germany’s first opponents will be the 2004 European Champions Spain on 19th July. The top two teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals, which will be played on 28th July. The final will take place three days later.

The DFB women’s U19 team has won the European Championship four times (2002, 2006, 2007, 2011). Austria and hosts Slovakia are playing in the tournament for the first time this year. Defending champions Sweden were eliminated in the qualifiers by Austria. Germany and head coach Maren Meinert didn’t have much to worry about in both qualifying phases as they went through top of their group without dropping any points.
