Wolfsburg's Malanda dies in car crash

Junior Malanda died in a car crash on Saturday. The midfielder player for Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg as well as the Belgium U21 side. The 20-year-old was involved in an accident at roughly 15:25 CET on the A2 motorway near Porta Westfalica. The car was travelling in the direction of Hannover.

The player was due to meet up with his Wolfsburg team mates this evening ahead of their flight from Braunschweig to South Africa, where their winter training camp was due to take place. As a result of the accident, tonight’s journey was postponed. A decision will be made on Sunday as to whether the tragedy will result in the team cancelling their winter training camp in Cape Town.
