VfL Wolfsburg will face Inter Milan in the UEFA Europa League final 16 after the draw was made in Nyon, Switzerland today. The Wolves will host the Italian side on the 12th March before travelling to the Giuseppe-Meazza-Stadium a week later for the return leg.
It won’t be a meeting of the World Champions between André Schürrle (Wolfsburg) and Lukas Podolski (Inter) though as the Milan forward on loan from Arsenal is not eligible for the Europa League. Germany international Mario Gomez will take on AS Roma with his Fiorentina side in an all-Italian encounter.
"It will be tough," said Inter manager Roberto Mancini on the clash against the second-placed side in the Bundesliga. “They’re the second-best team in Germany and have beaten Bayern.”
