Reigning champions VFL Wolfsburg will face Regionalliga Nord (RL Nord) side 1. FFC Fortuna Dresden in the second round of the Women’s DFB Cup. Meanwhile, last year’s runners up SC Sand travel to 2. Bundesliga Süd (2. FBL) side TSV Schott Mainz and league champions FC Bayern München take on 1. FC Riegelsberg from the Regionalliga (RL Südwest). The toughest draw of the round fell to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam who will play away at SV Werder Bremen, only recently relegated from the Women’s Bundesliga (FBL).
The women’s national team assistant coach Verena Hagedorn led the draw for the second round at a conference for the Commission for the Women’s Bundesliga. The teams were divided regionally into two pots prior to the draw.
The matches will take place on the weekend of the 8th/ 9th October, with the final set for 27th May 2017 in Köln.
