Wolfsburg show their teeth to stun Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen missed going third in the Bundesliga on Sunday as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at VfL Wolfsburg while league leaders Bayern Munich are out on their own, according to their rivals.

Wolfsburg scored three goals in 33 electifying minutes at home as Brazil midfielder Diego floated in a free-kick after four minutes, then converted a chance on 16 minutes.

On Sunday evening, Hannover scored four goals in 16 minutes, including two from super-sub Norway striker Mohammed Abdellaoue, to come back from two goals down and seal a 4-2 win over VfB Stuttgart to stay sixth.

Likewise, Borussia Mönchengladbach, eighth, came from behind to seal a 4-2 win at second-from-bottom Greuther Fuerth, who had defender Thomas Klein sent off on 12 minutes for bringing down Patrick Herrmann who was through on goal.

Leaders Bayern München won the top clash against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 (1-0), while runner-up Schalke 04 was successful at home 2-1 against Werder Bremen after being one goal down. Champions Borussia Dortmund earned another three points by beatin FC Augsburg 3-1.

On Friday FSV Mainz 05 won 2-1 (2-1) against 1. FC Nuremberg and climb to fifth place.

On Sunday it's finally time for the Europa League participants. Top formed Bayer Leverkusen play at VfL Wolfsburg. Borussia Moenchengladbach travel to Greuther Furth and VfB Stuttgart receive Hannover 96
