Wolfsburg pull off sensational result against Real

Wolfsburg have a very real chance of achieving the unbelievable against Real Madrid. A fantastic performance on Wednesday night saw the Wolves record a superb 2-0 win over the Spanish giants in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final to give them hope ahead of next week’s second leg.

Dieter Hecking’s side could lose by one goal against Spain’s most successful side next week and still progress to the final four. Ricardo Rodriquez converted an 18th-minute penalty to put his side in the lead, whilst the Spaniards were wasteful in front of goal. The Wolfsburg lead was doubled by Maximilan Arnold shortly afterwards, inflicting Real Madrid’s first Champions League defeat of the season.

Trapp and PSG draw with Manchester City

Kevin Trapp and French champions PSG had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their quarter-final first leg against Manchester City. Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed an early penalty and his team paid the price, going behind shortly before the break when Kevin de Bruyne finished well from a City breakaway. However, their lead didn’t last long and the boys from the French capital equalised when Fernando laboured on the ball after receiving a short goal kick from Joe Hart. Ibrahimovic closed him down and slotted home when he lost possession cheaply.

Things went from bad to worse for Manchester City when PSG took the lead through Adrien Rabiot in the second half. It appeared as if the Citizens would have to go into their home leg on the back of a defeat, but a Fernando equaliser shortly before the full-time whistle ensured that they left the Parc des Princes as the happier side.
