Wiesbaden miss out on chance to go top

SV Wehen Wiesbaden couldn’t return to top spot today a 3-1 defeat away to Hallescher FC; Arminia Bielfeld’s 3-0 victory saw them go ahead of Wiesbaden, where they will stay for at least a week. Akaki Gogia gave Halle the lead after 28 minutes. Robert Schick doubled their lead after 59 minutes, before Gogia got his second with four minutes left to play. Tobias Jänicke got a consolation goal for the visitors in injury time, but it was too little too late by that point.

MSV Duisburg and Dynamo Dresden played out a 0-0 draw in front of 15,000 spectators in Dusiburg. The first half was uneventful but the second sprung into life early on when Kevin Scheidhauer was shown a second yellow card for the home side. The guests couldn’t make the most of the man advantage and thus the game remained goalless.

Kickers draw with Cottbus

Stuttgart Kickers drew 2-2 with Energie Cottbus, but nearly grabbed an impressive victory. Cottbus took the lead through Manuel Zeitz in the 22minute but Kickers were level early in the second half thanks to Lhadji Badiane (52’). Elia Soriano volleyed them in front with 17 minutes left on the clock but a late equaliser from Uwe Möhrle saw Cottbus rescues a point.

Chemnitzer FC and Holstein Kiel played out a 0-0 draw. Kiel looked more likely to find the elusive goal, but in a game which saw both defences play admirably, a draw was a fair result.

VfB II snatch victory

VfB Stuttgart II came out 1-0 winners over SpVgg Unterhaching. The game was lacking in any real quality and saw both midfields cancel each other out effectively. The second half was a vast improvement on the first and was settled in the 78th minute by Jerome Kiesewetter, whose goal gave VfB II their sixth win of the campaign.

VfL Osnabrück beat SG Sonnenhof Großaspach to move to tenth in the league, with the visitors occupying bottom spot. Stephan Thee opened the scoring in the 18th minute but victory wasn’t confirmed until three minutes before the end when Addy Menga netted for Osnabrück.
