Wiesbaden hang on to top spot despite defeat

SV Wehen Wiesbaden remain the leaders of the third division for the time being despite a surprising 2-1 home defeat to 1. FSV Mainz 05. But Arminia Bielefeld will have the chance to overtake them in the standings on Sunday.

Despite a commanding start to the game, Wiesbaden conceded the opener in the 11th minute as Damian Roßbach put Mainz ahead. Devante Parker extended the visitors lead in the 24th minute. Tobias Jänicke pulled one back from range with five minutes left on the clock, but it was too little too late.

Dynamo Dresden and Fortuna Köln shared the points in a goalless draw. Dresden, who climb into third place thanks to the point, were the better side for large spells but struggled to create chances against a defensively well organised Fortuna.

VfB II win derby

VfB Stuttgart II secured a 5-1 derby victory against Stuttgarter Kickers. It was a setback for the Kickers in their relegation battle, while Stuttgart collect vital points and hold on to their position in mid-table. Daniel Ginczek put Stuttgart ahead in the 14th minute, before Elia Soriano equalised just after the half an hour mark. Marvin Wanitzek scored before half time (41’) to take a one goal lead into half time. Timo Baumgartl’s goal at the start of the second half (48’) killed the game off, before Wanitzek bagged his second of the day (72’) and Marco Grüttner rounded off the scoring in the 88th minute.

Energie Cottbus registered a 2-0 home win against MSV Duisburg with Torsten Mattuschka (59’ pen) and Tim Kleindienst (86’) providing the goals.

Rot-Weiß Erfurt also secured a 2-0 victory at home, as they saw off Chemnitzer FC. Kevin Möhwald scored just three minutes into the game, before Amer Kadric bagged a 90th-minute goal to seal the deal.

Holstein Kiel recorded a well deserved 3-0 home win against Hallenschen FC. Manuel Schäffler scored a first half brace and completed his hat trick with a goal in the 88th minute.

Hansa throw away lead

Hansa Rostock battled back from a goal down to take the lead against SpVgg Unterhaching, only to concede an 83rd minute equaliser to make it 2-2. Alon Abelski had opened the scoring in the 31st minute, before Marcel Ziemer (52’) and Christian Bickel (64’) deservedly put Hansa back into the lead. Rostock were in control, but Mario Erb converted an 88th-minute penalty to earn Unterhaching a fortunate point.

Jahn Regensburg managed a 2-0 home win against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, slightly improving their situation in the relegation battle as they are now level on points with Großaspach but still in last place. Daniel Franziskus (16’) and Thomas Kurz (84’) bagged the goals for Regensburg.

Borussia Dortmund’s reserves managed a 2-2 draw with VfL Osnabrück. The visitors were in control for the entire game and fully deserved their first half lead, which was given to them by Stanislav Iljutcenko in the 30th minute. The game produced a dramatic finish, as Julian Derstroff equalised for BVB in the 83rd minute, before Stephan Thee put Osnabrück back ahead just a minute later. A last minute goal from Jon-Gorenc Stankovič salvaged a point for Dortmund.
